In many other sectors, young people are able to start apprenticeships by studying full-time at a college; this is generally not the case in the fashion and textiles sector.
Apprenticeship qualifications are designed for people who are already in work in the sector, but who want to work towards a nationally-recognised qualification that will show that they can demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
The usual entry requirement for young people wanting to take an apprenticeship is four GCSEs at grades A-C, but some training providers will often make an exception for a learner who shows particular vocational ability or commitment.
