Moving On

Moving on is a website which helps young people find out and develop their personal skills and how best to promote themselves when applying for jobs.

The site has videos, online animations and activities which help students learn how to identify their own skills, how to market themselves, and how to apply for jobs that are a good fit for their personality, interests and skills. The four modules are: Who do you think you are?, Brand YOU, Putting it altogether, Further resources.

The 16-19 Bursary Fund

Schools, colleges and training providers have funds to help you if you're studying or starting a full-time course from September 2011 and think you might struggle with the costs for your studies. This fund is called the 16-19 Bursary Fund.

Those most in need will be eligible for a bursary of £1200 a year. This includes

• young people in care,
  
• care leavers,
  
• young people receiving income support
  
• disabled young people receiving both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.

SMAARTSKILLS 2011 Manchester

SMAARTSKILLS is the one place for young adults aged 15-24 to discover the huge range of careers, training schemes, apprenticeships, educational options and skills opportunities available to them.

SMAARTSKILLS is 100% free to attend but you do need to register beforehand - register here.

SMAARTSKILLS is being held at Lancashire County Cricket Club on the following two dates

• Tuesday September 13th 10am - 3.30pm
  
• Wednesday September 14th 9.30am - 3.00pm

Another audition date has been announced.

You can audition for the Pandemonium Festival on any of the following dates

If you are aged between 16-18 years old, are working at Level 1 & above in English & Maths and want to get into a career in the leisure & fitness industry then you might want to apply for an apprenticeship with Trafford Community Leisure Trust.

There are currently vacancies across Trafford:

You will gain the following qualifications:

• NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Instructing Exercise & Fitness (CYQ)

• Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure
  
• Level 1 Functional Skills in English & Maths
  
• Pool Life Guard / industry specific qualification in coaching or instructing

What can you progress to?

On completion of the above Level 2 Apprenticeship, an apprentice can progress onto ‘Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Instructing Exercise & Physical Activity with Central Sports Academy’.

The Pandemonium Festivals are a celebration event focusing on youth work activities, arts and music – the events are part of Trafford Youth Service summer activities for young for young people aged 11 years to 25 years. Entrance is free.
